Theoretically this should have been out a leetle earlier, but with the creeper autumn we're having here, these songs are the perfect fit for these light jacket days and heavy quilt nights. To get the earthier fall vibes, we're leaning a little more heavily on indie tunes, including some well-known classics and a few from bands you may have forgotten about. (If you like this style, be sure to check out the "Honey Pot" nights on Wednesday's at Mary's in East Atlanta, which we DJ every couple of weeks. Drop me a note for upcoming dates.) We hope you enjoy this last blast of autumn air before we descend into December's craziness. We'll be back very soon with an early holiday mix to get you in the spirit for all that. In the meantime, thanks for listening, and apologies again for the incosistent release schedule.

Apologies for the delay. And our lofty goal of hitting the next divisible of twelve by the end of the year seems a bit excessive now. There have been a variety of factors contributing to the slowdown, but none of that's worth getting into.

So let's just say that there's another mix in the works that you should see (hopefully) this week, and then at least one Holiday mix (maybe two) you'll get before the end of next month. And for now, we're dipping back into the vault to bring out another older mix as a bit of a peace offering for our unreliable ways. This was initially created as a mix CD at the same time of the first Quiet Times back in 2002. While the Times was our "anything goes" mix for friends, this was more of a DJ demo for gigs, and it's in the style that was most requested at lounges and restaurants here at the time. And well, not to brag, but it worked quite well, landing us several nice residencies. And the mix itself has lived in constant rotation for some of those it was submitted to, and for lucky friends who wound up with copies, which has always been flattering for such a single-minded set.

It had been up on our website at a lower bitrate, but now we've remastered it from the original CD, and added two simpatico (but more recent) tracks to the end to bring it up to podcast length. Otherwise you'll get the same set of autumnal nu-jazz that enticed our friends and listeners seven years ago. If you're hearing it for the first time, I hope it lives up to the hype in this intro, and if you already know it, we hope you'll be appreciative of its new status as an official entry in the Quiet Times.

It's one of our favorite times of the year and, consequently, this is always one of our favorite mixes to make. So whether you're already making the party rounds, or still deciding on what your costume will be on the big night, this mix should help get you in the spirit. We think we've hit on the perfect combination of antagonism and atmosphere with this one. It may make interesting background fodder for cocktails with your fellow ghouls, but for the best effect try listening through headphones. In the dark, of course.

First up, huge apologies for the sporadic output lately. It's been a very busy fall! We're still trying to get to volume 72 by the end of the year (whew), so there may be a lot more coming your way in the next few months.

For now, we wanted to offer up a sort of understated mix. Fall's in full swing on this one, so there are some more earthy vibes than usual, and we've worked in a few tracks that we've always wanted to put on a podcast but somehow never managed to until now. It should be a good match for these early days of fall, and we promise not to keep you waiting too long on the upcoming Halloween mix.

Around this time every year, while we wait for the weather to change, we like to take a little trip off the planet completely. This time around we've gone with a bit of an aquatic twist, so in addition to sailing through the stars, you should be well equipped to explore alien oceans with this set of fluid downtempo and dub techno. Don't wander too far; we have a few more mixes coming soon that should bring you back down to Earth gently. But in the meantime, bon voyage.

Sorry, this has been ready for a few days but we're just now getting a chance to post it.

This new 'cast is our special goodbye to what, for us, was a very good summer, both music-wise and otherwise. We created this mix of blurry melodies and sunny synths and laidback beats to be a sort of musical postcard for the crazy months that just passed. And our new artistic contributor, Maldorora, made it even more visual with her great cover art. The mix definitely has a consistent feel versus some of our more ecletic selections lately, and there are a few familiar voices in there for you as well to guide you through the relaxing instrumental landscape. Enjoy, and we'll get started on fall soon (after maybe a quick detour).

Some of you may already be enjoying your first cooler days, but here in the South, August is full of the out-and-out dog days, where it's so hot and muggy that even our mint juleps don't give us much relief. This mix was inspired by that heavy late-summer vibe and the music is appropriately dense. Also every summer we try to catch a few outdoor concerts, so some portions of this mix slip into that sort of anthemic sound that always comes along with those. Added all together, it makes for one of our most eclectic mixes so far this year, and while you'll no doubt be familiar with some of these songs and artists, we think you'll enjoy what we did with them.
